Looking forward to a venue announcement for the Phoenix show this spring. Don't know what to expect crowd-wise. Not sure there's a huge audience for his style around here (other than the NAU crowd in Flagstaff). Smaller crowd certainly works for this curmudgeon. People tend to annoy me.

Expect a mix of spun wooks, Bubbas and Bubbettes wearing tie-dye coveralls, lots of dead t shirts on kids who stole them from their parents/grandparents, hard core bluegrassers who will tell everyone they meet how "Billy is the best flatpicker since Doc/Tony Rice/Bryan Sutton/Molly Tuttle/Trey Hensley/Cody Kilby and yeah buddy, believe you me I seen 'em all and he's the best", and a handful of normal people trying hard to blend in - with the occasional grumpy old fart brooding in the miasma of bodies.

I go for the music, stay for the miasma.

Now I'm also getting sucked in for the latest farewell tour of the traveling version the 3rd best Dead cover band a week after the Strings show. Should be even more grumpy old farts stumbling around saying to anyone who'll listen "Back in my day...". At least they've got a reserved beer tent with lounge seating WAYYYY in the back of the outdoor venue. Old Farts Unite!
